Set up your MovieCollection

Currently, the MovieCollection is neither publicly available nor commercially distributed. However, feel free to explore the project page to stay updated.

Setup Progress:

Step 1 (a): Rent a web space

Rent web space from a hosting provider. It must include Windows web hosting, as only then will a Windows server and IIS be provided.

Step 1 (b): Set up your own IIS or Krestel web server.

Install your own Internet Information Services (IIS) on your Windows web server, which will then host the app. IIS can be installed on any Windows system (including your personal PC). However, make sure that your network is accessible from the outside so that you can access the app from outside your local network!

Step 2: Deploy the app files

Create a new folder on your web server and copy all app files into it.

Step 3: Connect a domain

Connect a domain of your choice to the folder containing the app files. With a hosting provider, this is usually done via 'Connect Webspace'.

Step 4: Start the App

Access the domain you assigned to the app. If you are running the IIS service on your own web server, you may need to start it first.

Step 5: First Login

Once the app is running and you access your domain, you can log in on the login page using the administrator credentials. Your can edit the existing administrator account or create a new one.

Step 6: Add your collection

Everything is now ready for you to build your collection. You can add your movies, invite your friends with an account, and plan movie nights. Have fun!
